Toxarium plastid genome published in Current Genetics

2016-09-21
Our paper describing the plastid genome of the tropical marine diatom, Toxarium undulatum, is now available online. The genome has an invasive group II intron, never before seen in diatoms, and it provides the first evidence for light-independent chlorophyll a biosynthesis in diatoms. The project was led by Elizabeth Ruck, undergraduate Honors student Samantha Linard, and Teo Nakov.
